BRENNA: At school I fell backwards off the tennis thing and crunched my head. Then we were playing American Idiot—instead of American Idol—and I tried to walk into the slide, but I walked into it harder than I meant to, and now I have a bump on the front of my head. So I had no brains to begin with and then I lost what I had.

MARIAN: This pizza is really squishy because it's been microwaved three days in a row.

ME: Now I have to go find something to eat; you're making me hungry.

MARIAN: You wouldn't want to eat this pizza. I don't think these mushrooms were growing on here to begin with.

Marian is one of the few people who understands my sense of humour, which is extremely dry. So is hers. We laughed long and hard last night.

Now I'm off to Toronto for the weekend.

BRENNA: (whispering conspiratorially) I want to come with you!

I don't laugh readily, but Marian and I know how to get each other going. We read Hitchhiker's Guide last summer and all roared over it. Brenna is a natural ham; I hope she has a chance to study some theatre. I just added a little comment to this post you might want to see.

Ya, I'm looking forward to the weekend.

Cheers,
V

it is a nice bonding and surprise when you see traits of yours mirrored back to you. like similar humor,
I know when Elli and I groove to the same tunes, there is just this knowing we look over at each other and nod a little as if to say
YEAH THAT'S THE GROOVE!

be well

What fun! I assume (I certainly hope) that despite the dire descriptions Brenna's injuries were minor.

She certainly made light of it. Kids are made of tough stuff.

Yeah, we manage to have some fun times. Thanks and have a good one yourself.

To reheat pizza, put it in a frypan, not a microwave. Keeps it crispy (as seen on Queer Eye for the Staright Guy). I'm sorry to admit I do watch TV occasionally.

I'll keep that in mind, although frying is probably too much work for a 12-year-old. ;-) Myself, I seldom have any leftover pizza around to reheat.

We rarely have pizza around long enough to reheat more than once (although, given my housekeeping skills, I can see growing mushrooms elsewhere in the house) Never having watched Queer Eye for the Straight Guy, I'll have to keep the frypan idea in mind--I know Stephe reheats his in the oven. That might keep it crispier than microwaving.

As long as she didn't have to go to the emergency room, Brenna's probably OK. I think. You're the one that talked to her...

At least her tongue was working, not to mention her wit. ;-)

I wouldn't worry too much about Brenna. My younger brother went through a period in middle and high school where he averaged about one major concussion a year. We're talking unconsciousness, hallucinations, whole nine yards. And he turned out just fine. Weird, but fine.

I had a cousin who used to break his arm once a year. A couple times it involved falling from our mulberry tree. But yeah, kids are made of tought stuff.
