Ziggy's cake
May. 22nd, 2004 10:32 amI rarely dream about people I know, so I was puzzled how anyone could dream about LJ friends they haven't even met. Well, this morning it happened to me. Appropriately, the dream starred joined-at-the-brain
ghostsandrobots, who has dreamt about me before.
I was driving through a forest where people lived underground, like Hobbiton with cars and lots of trees. I pulled up to the shop where Zig lived, and saw her through the big front window, baking a cake, white chef's hat and all. Tree roots dangled artistically over the glass. It was a birthday cake for me, but looked more like a giant wedding cake with hard white icing. She had finished the main construction and was preparing to decorate it. While I sat in the car, she pulled down large illustrations on the back wall of the bakery, and I was supposed to pick the design I wanted.
All this was done with hand signs and smiles, which felt like trying to communicate in Cyberspace. If we had had an opportunity to speak, I wonder how Zig's voice would have sounded. Maybe like voiced-over Japanese.
The next scene involved a group of LJ bears, with two of us behaving like cats, hissing and spitting at each other, but anyone who has visited this house will know that's unremarkable. Besides a number of Torontonians whom I have met, the group included
urso and
zombietruckstop, whom I have not.

Date: 2004-05-24 09:34 am (UTC)I've found that it's sometimes a really weird experience dreaming about someone from LJ -- a particular kind of weirdness I don't get when I dream people my brain has created, or celebrities.
One time, I dreamt about someone from here (who I still haven't met) and the whole time her face stayed frozen in one position. It was almost like watching a cardboard cut-out of her. I realized later that it her user pic; I'd only ever seen her face in that single expression and my brain had no guesses on how her face would move. From what I remember of my dream that had you in it, you seemed more naturally animated. I wonder if that's because I've seen more pictures of you. Surely being joined at the brain doesn't hurt, either. :)

Often in dreams I don't see people clearly, I just know who they are, but the part with you in it was vivid. You were moving around, and never looked exactly like the poses in your photos. Sometimes you even had your back to me. I guess my mind filled in the gaps.
