The girls and I just pulled in about an hour ago. After 10 days together at the cottage, they went home for a weekend picnic, while I took Danny to Bear Jamboree at Turkey Point, the same place we went camping when we were starting to get to know each other a year ago. We were more social this year and made some new friends from Michigan, as well as reconnecting with Dave "Macbear"—a mutual friend of mine and Danny's before we met—and his husband, Kevin.

This July was the wettest anyone around the cottage could remember. The bulk of my photos feature diverse and numerous mushrooms, which flourished around our property. I had fun identifying about 10 species for the first time. I have yet to sort through the photos. Hopefully I'll have time to post some in the next couple of days while we're at home. Thursday we'll be away again, then hardly home for the next four weeks.

Fortunately, the heavy rain came in rapid torrents and was interspersed with a fair amount of sunshine. The girls and I weren't stuck indoors for a single day. I swam every day and resumed work on the woodland garden I had neglected for several years.

Yesterday was one of the nicest of the summer. Danny and I finally pulled ourselves away from the campground around 5 p.m. yesterday. We were literally fried. We're both fair skinned and ought to know better than to bob in the sun all afternoon, but can't resist a pool full of furry men.

Thanks, C. How's it going with you? Hopefully I'll have a chance to catch up on some friends' journals in the next couple days.

I've had my ups and downs. The medication doesn't seem to be doing much good, although I have been sleeping better than usual, so physically my energy is good. I managed to get some Me time every morning at the cottage, taking my written journal down to the dock after breakfast. The loneliness got to me a couple times, and I had one rough day with Marian last week, but all things considered I'm feeling okay. I could use a couple days to myself right now, on the other hand I'm afraid that if the activity stops I might crash.

No chance of that happening until after Labour Day.

I missed you, too! I'll only be here until Thursday, then probably won't have another chance to post for four weeks, but as always I'll bring home more photos.
