Mostly, yes. My parents have an overwhelming and poorly trained alpha female named Emma, whom I have disliked ever since she knocked over one of my daughters a few years ago. However her predecessor was a lovely retriever Brittany spaniel cross named Tanya, who came to live with us and was trained by me when I was about 16. She had one of the nicest temperaments of any dog I've known, and the spaniel influence seemed to sharpen her intelligence. She looked mostly like this, though. For some reason this photo puts a happy lump in my throat.
