Probably per pound. Per kilo (2.2 lbs.) would be very cheap and per 100 grams (3.5 oz.) would be very expensive. Plus the signs on all the peas and beans are in pounds.

Yeah, what detailbear said. Food is the one area in which Canadians haven't taken easily to the metric system, even though metric weights and measures must be marked on all our packaging. All our old favourite recipes are still recorded in pounds, cups and tablespoons, after all. In big supermarkets one would expect to see things like meat and bulk food priced by the kilogram, but at the deli counter I would still ask for a quarter pound of cheese or sandwich meat, and at a market you're more likely to see things priced by the pound.

If you ever visit Toronto, it's one of the sites to see. Really earthy, besides it's one of the best examples of multiculturalism in this most multicultural of cities.

Well then if that's all you've got, then what am I doing wasting mine gathering dust? Geez...I'd better get it going, esp. with winter almost upon me.

Part of that, of course, is being so integrated with the US. I should be wearing metric size 90 instead of 36 pants, and 44 shirts instead of 17½ if we were going to convert, but the sizing hasn't changed yet. (And if understands women's clothing sizing, let us know.)

Corresponding with so many US bears, ljer's, etc. keeps the height and weight in mind. I try to remember to go 5'7"/168 cm - 220 lbs/100 kg, but I don't always remember.
