I still felt grumpy when I picked Danny up from the bus station at 8 p.m., but it didn't last long with him here. We had chili and biscuits for dinner. Since then we've been playing cribbage, drinking Earl Grey green tea and eating butterscotch oatmeal squares. Launchcast could hardly have played a better mix for unwinding on a Friday evening. I want to remember it:

Loreena McKennitt: The Mystic's Dream
Judy Collins: All The Pretty Horses
Alanis Morisette: You Learn
Madonna: Sky Fits Heaven
Tori Amos: Crazy
Barenaked Ladies: Maybe Katie
Kate Bush: Deeper Understanding
Leonard Cohen: Anthem
Sting: Never Coming Home (Gonna Live My Life Remix)
Lesley Gore: You Don't Own Me
Peter Gabriel: Games Without Frontiers
Berlin: Pleasure Victim
Rufus Wainwright: Memphis Skyline1
Dream Academy: Life In A Northern Town
The Cranberries: I Just Shot John Lennon
Enya: Exile
Dream: He Loves You Not
Orchestra Nationale de France: Ravel, an excerpt from Alborada del Grazioso
Sarah McLachlan: Drawn To The Rhythm
Shania Twain: I'm Gonna Getcha Good!

I feel better now.

1He is so beautiful!

Who can quell my passion?

One of my favorite songs ever.

I have more of Enya's albums than any other popular artist. It's all so good to me. But I don't think I've looked at the lyrics for that particular song until now. It is breathtaking.

It's part of the lexicon of music I liked at the time but took for granted and never paid attention until now. I'm excavating my youth.

Chili and biscuits? I've never heard that combo...

Chili and cornbread, now...that's some good eatin'...;)

I'm glad your weekend has started out in such a wonderful manner. :)

I've hardly ever tasted cornbread. It's a more Southern tradition. So is chili, of course. But my recipe comes from Mom, who would have served it as a hearty winter lunch at the cottage along with crusty rolls. I had some Bisquick in the cupboard, so biscuits were quick and easy for two bears needing to decompress after a tiring week. :-)

Oh yeah! I'd be happy to make chili to go with it!
