My daily posts over the past five months have been a valuable exercise, but I need to turn some of the creative energy towards other writing endeavours. I'll resume posting in an altered form, probably shorter. But discipline is the key.

I'll pack up the computer and take it to Toronto tomorrow. Danny has found a video card for $20 that will possibly fix my monitor problem. I'll be greatly relieved if works. Otherwise the card can be returned. Hopefully I can resume normal internet activities next week.

I'm also considering high-speed internet service. Dial-up is inconvenient even with the reading I do online, but accessing art and photography resources is simply impractical. My friends page typically takes several minutes to download, and the photo communities are virtually impossible.

Apparently DSL is not available on my line, so I'll probably go with Rogers Cable for $26.95 per month for the first year and then $29.95. I know this sounds like a pittance, but for me it's grocery money. I only noticed today that Sprint has reduced my dial-up fee from $18.95 to $13.95. Still, I'm getting what I pay for.

i hope the video card is an improvement, van, and i hope you find a way to balance LJ with your other writing.

I am hopeful, too, on both counts. The video card looks positive. Balance may be more elusive.
