For [livejournal.com profile] leafshimmer: wisteria from the Corn Hill district of Rochester

For [livejournal.com profile] leafshimmer: Kodak headquarters building where the peregrine falcon webcam is located

[livejournal.com profile] gmjambear took us to the top of a parking tower in Rochester on Saturday afternoon and there was a panoramic view of the Kodak building. I know [livejournal.com profile] art_thirst follows this webcam, so I took a picture of the building for interest's sake.

The train home today ran 90 minutes late. [livejournal.com profile] djjo and I arrived safely but exhaustedly home around 9:30 pm. I'll head back to Guelph tomorrow. Several posts will ensue later this week.

The kodak complex looks like an architectural model. The walls look so fresh, like they were just cut from cardboard. The little fake trees and cars add to the effect.

It's funny, I didn't see that because of course I had the context and scale in my head, but now that you mention it I can't get it out of my head. It's unusual to get such an unobstructed panorama of such a large structure.

Oh wisteria! I love it and miss it so much. From Rome where I grew up. The scent of wisteria... I wish I could just summon it up.

I tried to get a good whiff from this plant and couldn't. The scent seemed elusive, almost easier to smell from a distance.

Despite their legendary ability to evoke memories, I find my favourite smells —like lilacs and magnolias—difficult to remember out of season.

I hopped over here to say just exactly what Robearal said about the Kodak building!

But, also... may I please jig saw the wisteria? It's just a beautiful shot.

Oh, thank you! *gives Van a big hug and a kiss*

Any close-ups of the wisteria? Yes, you found out my deep dark secret; I'm a wisteria whore!

No closeups, sorry. And no digitized scent, unfortunately.

I adore wisteria

I should take some pictures of ours. We tried to train it to fill up our trellis, but with a mind of its own, it skipped past the trellis and is currently climbing to the top of the oak tree it's nearby.

We're right on the northern edge of their range, so I'm not overly familiar with wisteria, but they can be grown here. What a stunning plant! If I ever have a garden I would like to grow one.

We have wisteria in bloom near us as well. Every time I see it, it makes me want to grow some of my own. The photos are lovely, the colors are gorgeous.

Thank you! I see you live in Michigan, not far away. I'm actually a native of Windsor.

Indeed, that's just a hop, skip and a jump away. I'm over on the west side of the state, but have made many a trek over to the lovely Canadian cities.

When Gary pointed out the building and mentioned the webcam, I thought of you immediately.

Thanks Van! I'd love to see the banding. I don't know when it's planned but, they'll post pics after it's done.
