Three summer poems

Fragmented clouds rift fabric
a bright incoherence
worth two lines of clarity
star locking
some minds loose
the roof off their walls
(July 19, Guelph)

Dusk
i.
Placid sky falls full on water
drowning as memories cool
Last varnished click
of dragonly windows
War dissipates over the bay
ii.
In certain moments
everything seems possible.
Waking from dreams:
a glimpse of pure longing
and life pauses on the threshold
of an unforeseen future.
iii.
One evening strung pearls of cloud
grace the lavender breast of heaven
(July 29, Lk. Fletcher)

Shame
The fire was pure,
its dance lyrical
as thrush's song
in forest depths,
light sacred as sunrise
on a winter morning.
Since the birth of god
the keepers commanded it hidden
in caverns of the soul.
(July 31, Lk. Fletcher)
