My second and third scarves made from Bernat Solo Plum and Adriafil Guys colour 34

Yesterday [livejournal.com profile] djjo and I went to Waterloo County Knitters' Fair, largest of its kind in Canada. I bought yarn for another scarf and won a book, Two Sweaters for my Father, by Perri Klass. Danny is notoriously good luck that way, cuddly like a rabbit's paw but less gruesome. We visited [livejournal.com profile] themacbear and [livejournal.com profile] gr8grizz and saw The Brothers Grimm.

Mom phoned to ask whether she and Dad could drop by today en route to the cottage to see my Maritimes photos. They have met previous boyfriends, but I haven't told them about Danny. I replied, "I have company, but that's okay." I think she understood more than I said and started to back out, but I insisted.

It went well. Emma was boisterous (Danny is uneasy around dogs) but Potvin sat sedately in his cage. Dad, in his peculiar way, called Danny Dan, which I corrected. Mom asked whether Danny was the one who had given Brenna all the beads; many have passed from Bill, I was relieved when Danny took credit.

After they left he helped me finish the purple scarf I started last spring, then begin the new one. I'm envying [livejournal.com profile] susandennis and trying to invite cool weather.

I take it you haven't had that talk with your parents? I'd be rather worried about the girls spilling the beans, non?

I think the girls have hinted at it a bit. They haven't come right out and told them yet though.

I think they have a pretty good idea know something is going on. [g]. Just not all the details.

Mom said a few years ago that she is too old to be bothered getting to know the men in my life, and Dad mostly goes along with her. I've already wasted too much effort trying to change her mind, and don't see anything to be gained in forcing the issue of polyamory on them at this time. If they start asking questions about Danny, I would be pleased, but I'm not holding my breath. As he mentioned, Brenna has already dropped hints, but Mom will only hear what she wants to hear. I doubt the girls will get into details, and I can't see them causing any harm. Marian and Brenna like you all and enjoy visiting the house, so anything they say is likely to reflect that.

Huzzah for selective deafness, eh?

<G> I like being called cuddly!

Now why can't that magic work on lottery tickets?!!!

Saturday was a blast, with the fair and all.

It was good meeting your parents. It's amazing how much you and your dad are alike, and not just your voices. I can also see a bit of the girls in them as well. Marion's face is very similar to your mums.

Hugs and keep well. Time to break out the laptop and work from home. Danny

Yes, I'm like my dad. Marian certainly takes after my mother, too, perhaps even in temperament, although she has a lot of Waffle traits, too. Brenna looks a lot like some of my cousins and their children on Mom's side. Have a great day there.

I love how the tags blend together: family knitting relationships.

Hugs!

Yeah, I noticed that, too, and wish my family worked that way. ;-)

It's a lot closer to that than for some families, I think. Take heart in that.

Well, I envy your knitter's fair! It sounds wonderful. Cool will come to you. I know it will.

Haha, soon to be followed, Ontario-style, by biting cold. But I'll be well bundled this winter in bright scarves by me and wool hats by Danny.

I love to knit. I haven't had time to do it for ages, but I love doing it. That purple yarn is gorgeous!

Danny is an avid knitter; he got me onto it. I just started last winter, but I'm having fun with it.
