Eramosa fatigue

I just arrived in Toronto for Thanksgiving weekend, bumming a ride from Jon en route to his boyfriend’s place downtown. It beat a $20 bus ticket, or gas for the car plus a $15 parking permit. I gave him $8 for gas. He said it was too much and bought me a coffee.

On the way out of Guelph we stopped at a place where he went hiking earlier this week. It was listed in a booklet about local trails. The place was an access point where Watson Road crosses the Eramosa River. The trail follows a rail line that connected Guelph with Toronto suburbs until 1931.

I’ve felt blasé about the Eramosa recently, as if I had photographed everything, written down every nuance of light. Boredom is one of the most subtle sentiments. It’s the heart’s resistance to going deeper. When you feel bored, it’s time to keep going.

A fresh approach doesn’t hurt. Neither does finding a new segment of river to explore. I was pleased, just now, to find Jon’s booklet online as a PDF file from a local health network. It shows a few intriguing trails I didn’t know.

I predict good hiking weather this fall.

Meeting this weekend

It is shaping up to be a busy weekend for me, but there are a couple of possibilities if you would like to meet:

Coffee or a drink, late Saturday afternoon, somewhere downtownish

Brunch/lunch Sunday, somewhere downtownish

Fairly quick coffee on Monday, in or near the Annex.

Any of these if fine with me. Coffee/brunch or whatever on me.

Any of those would work, but it's hard to say no to brunch on Sunday. :-)

You choose a place. I'm fine with anything except heavy spices, e.g. Indian cuisine.
