Frost this morning

A meme from [livejournal.com profile] themacbear, stuff I need to think about today.
  1. Taking my daughters to a new, wild place and watching them become engrossed in poking around, turning over rocks in search of tiny, slithery critters.

  2. Sunshine on my desk first thing in the morning, inviting me to pour a cup of decaf with cream, come sit, open the notebook, uncap the fountain pen, and write.

  3. Watching bearded men kiss.

  4. Thai food, especially coconut chicken soup. Call me a copycat, but really, nothing beats it.

  5. Pulling muffins or quick bread out of the oven.

  6. Hearing a flock of cedar waxwings fly overhead whistling softly, or watching them dance along a branch, passing berries from beak to beak.

  7. Sitting down at a grand piano with the music for Rachmaninoff's Prelude in D Major open before me.

  8. A summer afternoon at Lake Fletcher, drawing on the dock, or just sitting on a lounge chair in my shorts with a gin and tonic, inhaling the sweet smell of the water, watching the ripples, and anticipating a dive into silver whenever I get hot.

  9. Danny's hugs.

  10. Finding a $10 bill forgotten in a pocket.

It's turning out to be a good weekend, times of reflection and affection with friends.

Safe travels.

Will you miss winter?

I will miss snow, and I already miss thick boomfy duvets, but I won't miss that really icy, dark deep cutting wind that winter can produce. :)

One of the best parts about the wireless is that I'm reconnected to some wonderfully joyous things, like your photos!

So that's what you call it! That inspired me to look up a recipe. Mmmm, I'm going to have to try it.

That recipe is different from the one they commonly serve in Thai restaurants here. Ours includes little shitake mushroom caps and lemon grass. Perhaps, like pad thai and mee krob there are many regional variations. Any way you make it, it's GREAT!

Well I adore mushrooms and like lemon grass, too. I might have to do a little more searching.

If you scroll down on this page
http://www.panix.com/clay/cookbook/thai-recipes.html
there's a pretty good one.
I think it's a little heavy on the chiles for my taste, but to each their own.
It has the mushrooms and the lemongrass however.

In fact, that page looks like an entire Thai feast!

A feast indeed. I share your reservations about chiles. Maybe I can concoct a hybrid of these two recipes. Thank you for finding that!
