Sewage lagoons

Holland Landing sewage lagoons
I picked up Brenna at 12:30. She turns 12 on November 15, so we'll be celebrating this weekend. She has a new haircut, short except for the bangs, similar to her sister's old style. No wonder Marian opted for a buzz.
After lunch at Pizza Pizza, we headed to Holland Landing and went for a walk around the sewage lagoons. Sounds like a peculiar outing, but these are excellent sites for gulls, ducks and sandpipers in migration. Other than the usual Canada geese, mallards and ring-billed gulls, I only had a chance to show Bren some Bonaparte's gulls. I glimpsed more interesting ducks, possibly northern shovelers, redheads and green-winged teal, but binoculars were insufficient. A scope is ideal for waterfowl and shorebirds.
Dinner consisted of a couple comfort foods we share, which Marian doesn't care for: Caesar salad and fake Kraft Dinner.
This evening we visited Sylvia and Sarah, perusing creepy Marys and Jesuses in their collection of art history books, nibbling oatmeal cookies with tea. Their lovely Himalayan, Willow, usually shy and semi-invisible, was fascinated with Brenna. As a gift, the girls gave Brenna a cookie-mix-in-a-jar, which Sylvie concocted and Sarah decorated.
Now it's time for cribbage before bed.
