At Eden Mills Presbyterian Church this afternoon on the way home

Talk about getting led around by the dick. I was crazy driving to Campbellville last night, but didn't feel like spending a blustery night alone. I bundled up and carried garbage down to the curb. Streamers and maelstroms churned under streetlights, strewing recycling bags across York Road. A car edged past, tires crunching.

I scraped off the Sunfire and headed into the night. On CBC, Angela Cheng and two other musicians began Schubert's Trio Number One, bright music to keep me alert.

Essex County where I grew up is flat. Roads run straight to the horizon. Snow flies unimpeded. Guelph's woods and low hills offer shelter, but in the dark countryside I strained to remember every curve of the way. Victoria Road had dark tracks, but on Sideroad 20 both path and air turned to smudgy white darkness.

I stopped and got out to clean the wiper blades. A car slowed with its passenger window down to ask if I needed help.

On Guelph Line, the road became more visible, and the rest passed quickly. I don't even remember passing the traffic light in Brookville. The final chords of Schubert's trio sounded as I pulled into Scott and Iain's driveway.

nice Van, I love the bottom one with the slight blur, I can imagine a pressence right there in the middle of the image, as if you captured some one out wandering.

Those graveyard reflections all struck me as kind of intense, but the last one is just uncanny.

Love,
Van
