A very long day

Yesterday began with the chorus’s all-day rehearsal from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. I bussed to Toronto in the late afternoon. Through tinted windows, the earth was a mere shadow under fresh snow, which arrived Saturday morning. Spectral countryside slipped like a dream into sprawling plazas and office complexes of Mississauga.
In the evening I attended Mr. Leatherman Toronto competition and victory ball to help sell more Eighteen Men calendars. I had a pleasant time getting to know Brad, another calendar model. We had to set up in the front lobby, ventilated by cold air from the doors.
After the competition ended, Sean Cribbin told us to knock off and enjoy the party, so we drifted into the milling, leatherbound crowd. I didn’t see many people I knew, but the few were good company. Finally went home with a couple, but they had been partying while I was drinking so after a little play they headed to Fly, Toronto’s after hours dance club, while I cabbed home to crawl into bed beside my cubby after 4 a.m.
The past week has included more than the usual dose of sexual adventure. I’m feeling ready for simpler, homelier pleasures the next while.
