A view of 2005
Dec. 7th, 2005 05:55 pmI spent the afternoon sifting through my 2005 published photos. Every December I pick a few favourites to showcase at the end of the month.
It was a strange year to review. The February and March images had vanished unaccountably from my hard drive. No cause for alarm, because all the old digital photos are backed up on discs, but I like to keep the published ones at hand. I flipped through my journal and resaved them.
I have continued to shift emphasis back toward writing. Recently I stopped posting photos every day. Nevertheless, my eye continues to evolve, with increasing interest in colour and minimalism.
It's as if both my photography and writing is approaching the same quiet, empty place.

Wherever you go I follow.
I hear no other call,
and whom should I trust?
No choice: an irreversible link.
If you fly ahead we're lost,
and I a body, a shell.
Today you stayed close
beneath a peaceful sky.
You did not fly
so I could be still.
I reached a place at the end of words.
A portal opened in the wind.
Stepped into cloud
left you behind
and found
in emptiness
we had become one.
