Playing with

Today has been another busy but pleasant one. I just poured myself a rum and eggnog and am relaxing for a few minutes while chicken wings marinade before going in the oven for several hours. We're getting ready to have Sylvie and Sarah over for dinner. My daughters have been chipping in. Marian prepared a yoghurt dip recipe she learned from Gary on Cape Breton last August. Dinner will be all finger food.
Brenna is a regular worker bee. Last night she went grocery shopping with me and made a few suggestions. We should roll some cold cuts for the buffet, she said. So I bought ham and turkey. This afternoon she rolled them with toothpicks and laid them neatly on a bed of parsley with green grapes and a bowl of pomegranate seeds. Then she vacuumed the living room and hall.
The menu will also include shrimp scampi, baked rice tortilla crackers, guacamole, crudités and a cheese plate. Later we'll go to Sylvie and Sarah's for dessert.
All five of us like doing art, so during the evening we plan to create some kind of collaborative work.
I have a bottle of champagne for midnight.
Happy New Year everyone.
