A quiet Saturday with my cubby has been just the right medicine to both relax and energize me. Funny how those go together.

After mushroom cheese omelettes, we snuggled down for the afternoon to watch Contact, Danny for the first time and me for about the tenth. It's one of my all-time favourites, and there's no other fictional character I identify with more closely than Dr. Ellie Arroway. Just wish I had her gumption sometimes.
Afterward the sun was still shining, so we went for a walk. Some rain must have fallen before the snow, because every tree sparkled with tiny icicles. The Eramosa River rippled darkly under a painterly sky. The light was so exquisite I wished I could bottle it, but photographs must suffice.
