Weather complaint

Six-and-a-half hours of driving in a winter storm is enough to make me want to leave Ontario. I was considering getting a hotel room in Lindsay, but by the time we arrived the snow had stopped. I dropped Marian off and turned towards home, only to drive back into bad weather. On Airport Road, coming down a hill and preparing to turn right onto Old Highway 24, I lost control and slid through the intersection. Fortunately I had a green light, and there were no other vehicles around anyway. That was the worst of numerous nerve-wracking incidents. What a relief it was to see the pink sky glow of Guelph looming on the horizon. I get sick of driving to Lindsay in bad weather.

I'll be over it tomorrow.

It's a very stressful thing. I'm grateful that our winter has been so easy this time. Glad your scary incidents did no real harm except to your nerves!

Winter here has also been astoundingly mild and snow-free, until now! One of the things I dislike about living in Ontario is the winter driving conditions, and bad weather usually manages to hit my weekend visits with the girls. Ah well, getting home safe is the main thing.

I just went to Yahoo! maps to see where Lindsay is... wow, that's a long way! Well, not like, say, St. John's, Newfoundland, but ... in a winter storm, that's a long way. I'd say when you got home you had earned a nice hot bath or a good scotch or something for relaxing.

Under normal conditions it's anywhere from 2:15 to 3 hours, depending on traffic. It really is far, and I have never enjoyed driving. I wish I could see the girls more often, but the distance is restrictive.

Yeah, that's what matters. Fortunately most of the segment with Marian as passenger was done in daylight.
