Yesterday I forgot to refill my prescription for mirtazapine. I've only missed taking it about five times since June 2004, and each of those nights I didn't sleep a wink, so I expected the worst. Nevertheless, my eyelids started drooping around 2 a.m., the usual time, so I went to bed, konked out and slept six solid hours.

Maybe I'm less dependent than I thought. Maybe there was still enough in my system, although that hasn't helped before. Or maybe it was three shots of Southern Comfort (warranted under the circumstances) combined with unusual tiredness that did me in.

Whatever the reason, I was relieved to fall asleep. Woke up with a headache. Or hangover. It wasn't a bad day, but I took it easy.

I picked up several boxes of day-old bread from the Food Bank and delivered them to Two Rivers, as usual every Tuesday, but didn't stay at the office. Came home and went for a long walk upstream beyond Victoria Road. Quality camera time. Saw a handsome younger man with blond beard walking a golden retriever. Wandered home through slanting light, headache gone.

Now I have the prescription and look forward to a better sleep tonight.

The first picture, although beautiful, for some reason gives me the scary creeps. I don't know what it is...the texture, the color the moldy look. Definately invokes creepy emotion. And THAT is a good thing.

It looks like rotted fingers reaching out of the mud. I'm glad you got that and appreciated it. I also like how it's nearly grey scale, but there's a hint of blood red in the distance. :-)

those are utterly stunning - thanks!

I do have to admit that I misread "mirtazapine" as "marzipan" for a moment, though. Which given how I once joked that I'd gone off serzone for marzipan is oddly appropriate.

I'd be delighted if my doctor would prescribe a dose of marzipan once a night.
