[My review of the Hayao Miyazaki film My Neighbour Totoro was accidentally deleted, substituted with a more recent entry. So was the copy saved in my files.]

This is one of my favorite films. For more than just the fur factor. ;-)

I think it's going to be near the top of my list, too. And yeah, Totoro is kind of hot.

Well, as much as I like 'em round and furry, I'm not sure that Totoro is hot hot.

But the scene where the girl melts into the big totoro's belly and falls asleep... oh, that looks so nice.

I'm envious of her, really. The feeling of deep, careless sleep is something that I find hard to achieve. The film, in my mind, is fundamentally about healing, and it is full of healing imagery like this. Which makes me think, I really ought to watch this again, soon.

Turner Classic Movies channel recently showed 9 of Miyazaki's films... I think Tortoro was my favorite.

The one people keep mentioning to me is Spirited Away. If I like it nearly as much as Totoro, I'll be thrilled.
