[livejournal.com profile] djjo posted a wonderful panoramic photo he took from the end of my dock last weekend, along with a couple other nice nature shots he took walking in the woods.

I posted a considerable number of additional photos in Flickr, some of which I intended to present here through the week, but that didn't happen, so you can look directly in the gallery if you like. For the first time, I took some shots of the cottage interior, which you'll find if you look through:

[livejournal.com profile] ubermunkey will be arriving from Arizona tomorrow night for a two-week Ontario visit, and we plan hit Lake Fletcher on Monday for a couple days, so there's bound to be fresh material.

Here is just the view from the dining room windows. This is pretty essential Ontario:

I asked him about meeting you. He said you were so welcoming, made him feel like family at once. I have a little dream about the three of us spending time together in some peaceful place.

That would be so lovely.
I imagine ots of good coffee, even better wine, wonderful food, books, cameras and lots of long walks taking pictures and quietly marvelling over life.

It would be a nice plan to make someday- maybe a beach in B.C or a visit to Oregon? or perhaps some spashy city we've all wanted to go to?

I adore the West. My few days camping alone on Vancouver Island is probably the most powerful memory of my youth. I haven't been back since 1991, the summer before Marian was born. I have never seen the Western states, but long to visit some of them. If ever I can make the trip, we must bounce some ideas around.

I know of some cabins right on the beach- if we were to be able to swing storm season it's as little as about 35 dollars a night for a cabin with full kitchen, barbecue, outdoor tub and anything we might need- not to mention 5 minutes to the beach and some great coves to explore.

I'm thinking of the beaches from the beach section of my site- they have whales, seals, wolves, great beach combing.
Woo!

It sounds just about perfect. And I remember those images from your site. :-)

I know the feeling. I didn't get to spend much time at the cottage last summer, and that made me homesick. Will you get any time away from the city this summer?

I'd like to wake up to a view like that every morning.

Yes, that is heaven. Our dock faces northeast, so the sun shines in the windows first thing, and ripples of light reflect across the living room ceiling. Unfortunately when I'm there I tend to sleep in and miss sunrise, but dusk is my favourite time of day, and it is also breathtaking.
