Surrounded
Jun. 30th, 2006 02:50 pmSylvie has two violins, and offered one on longterm loan to Marian, to learn. She and Sarah brought it over last night and stayed for dinner. I'm grateful to see my daughters surrounded by so many good, caring adults, also evidenced in the kind comments yesterday on
bitterlawngnome's photo series of Marian.
On the theme of kindness, my parents are buying the Sunfire for me when the lease ends in July. I took it for a safety check yesterday and it required expensive brake work, but in four years that's the first serious maintenance it has required.
At 11:20 this morning, the girls were still sleeping. I had to slip into my bedroom to get fresh clothes so I could go pick up the car. It filled my heart to see Marian's lovely face asleep on the pillow. Last time I saw, she was such a little girl. Brenna was hidden in the top bunk, ensconced behind a barricade of pillows. I walked into the room in her dream, she told me later.
We have a busy afternoon planned, including getting my drawings for Denver framed, shopping for a new violin string, and driving to Hamilton to see more of
bitterlawngnome's photography and the show at you/me gallery. Tomorrow the girls go home for the long weekend, and I'm heading to Toronto for an anniversary.
A sudden thunder and hail storm knocked out power two hours ago during this writing. Fortunately I had just saved in preparation to post. We ran the in-town errands, came home so I could shower, and now are leaving for Hamilton. It would have been a great day for storm following. Mountainous atmosphere.

Date: 2006-07-02 04:32 am (UTC)As for trying and exhausting? Oh yeah! LJ often looks at me after we've had the girls for a day or two and asks, "How do straight people do this?" As for me, I'm clear why people do this in their 20's and 30's and not in their 50's.
We're also getting our tast of teenagers; Rose (the oldest of the three godchildren) is 13. I'm sorely tempted to have her encased in Lucite until she's 20, for her own (and everyone else's) protection.
