Pain

Leaving Lindsay yesterday we went through severe thunderstorms. The photo (cross-posted to weather_pics) was taken near Blackwater at 12:33 p.m. At times rain reduced visibility, reducing our progress to a crawl. We saw a truck overturned in the ditch, its load of soil spilt.

By the time we reached Newmarket and stopped for subs, the sky was sunny and the streets were dry. Ironically, that's where the accident happened. The Sunfire was rear-ended while sitting at a stoplight, and Brenna and I received whiplash. That's all I want to say publicly about it now.

I took the Sunfire to the garage this morning. Insurance should provide physiotherapy and a replacement car until repairs are done. Unfortunately the insurance adjuster hasn't contacted us yet, and I'm unable to proceed. Dad and I have placed multiple calls to the insurance company (the policy is in his name).

This morning I didn't feel much pain. I went to Two Rivers to learn the routine at the new office (we had to move out of the school basement for the summer), but only stayed a few minutes. I took Brenna downtown on the bus for a little retail therapy, bought her a summer shirt, and me a CD: Michelangeli playing Mozart's Piano Concertos Nos. 13 and 23, and Haydn's Piano Concerto No. 11 (EMI Classics).

Suddenly my neck started to get stiff and sore, so we came home. It's getting worse now. Time for Ibuprofen. Brenna seems to be suffering more than me, but doesn't complain unless I ask. She doesn't like pills, but I'm going to try grinding one up for her.

The gentle, mournful Adagio of Mozart's 23rd is one of my favourite musical movements, and I'm right now listening to it for the second time in a decade.
