What a week this has been so far. The car accident came at a particularly bad time because the lease ends this month and we were in the middle of paperwork to buy the vehicle. The repairs stalled everything and created a panic. Of course there have been unexpected costs, and little things, like sending documents by Xpresspost, also add up. Dad and I have been on the phone about five times a day trying to sort things out, with numerous additional calls to the insurance broker and GM. The Sunfire still has to go for its emissions test tomorrow afternoon. Hopefully that will be the last piece of the puzzle before the deal closes on Friday.

Mom and Dad are both detail people. They also have trouble understanding why things have to be so complicated, and I agree with them on that. But Dad is a businessman! You'd think it wouldn't surprise him. At times like this it's easy to understand where my anxiety comes from.

They have kindly covered the cost of framing the drawings for the art show, which is a life saver. If the drawings sell, I'll be able to repay my parents.

I had hoped to spend time this week laying plans for camping trips this summer with Brenna and Marian, but other matters have taken priority. The budget is going to be tight, so we won't be travelling especially far.

I wish life in the vicious world could be simpler.

My to-do list for tomorrow:

• Write a short story for 1001 Nights Cast, due at 1:06 p.m.
• Six week check-in with the shrink at 1:40 p.m. (I feel relatively sane, but a little frazzled)
• Emissions test at 3 p.m.
• Pick up Brenna from camp at 4 p.m. ESDT
• If I'm lucky, get home in time to see my short story broadcast at 4:06 p.m.
• Parents' night at Brenna's rock climbing camp, 6 p.m.
