We were up at Magnetawan last weekend and the colour was wildly intense.

Van - did you happend to see my recent post about the young wild bird? I just wondered if you had any thought on what to do, given that I know you've kept and raised one previously.

I was away and didn't get a chance to read about it until now. Waxwings are apparently unusual in that they tend not to die, so we had an easy case. I believe a lot of these babies die of shock, even if they're uninjured. My advice to anyone finding a young wild bird, injured or not, is to contact and take it to a wild bird clinic such as the one at University of Guelph. They have the best experience in treating injured birds and know how to return them to a wild existence.
