It appears the "fans of x's journal" tool at http://marnanel.org/joule is no longer operational. Does anyone know of a device that performs the same function? Mostly, I want an easy way to tell who has added and deleted me from their friends list, because with roughly 150 names, it isn't easy.

You can sign up for a (free) account with LJToys [http://ljtoys.org.uk/] and get email notification on who is viewing your journal as well as who adds/drops you on their f-list.

The Semagic client (PC) has a nice feature that will allow you to see updates to your f-list from within the application. It's my lj editor of choice on the PCside.

Macside, well, none of the Macside editors are as complete as Semagic. (Hence, ljtoys)

Hope this helps.

Thanks for those suggestions. I will try both of them. I use Semagic, and I just had to do a little poking around to find the function you mentioned.

LiveJournal has a new notification tool which will allow you to get messages through a new LJ inbox, and if you so desire, by e-mail when people add or remove you from their friends list.

Go here, click on "manage settings" in the upper right, and the option you want is in the first group of options.

I see where you can be notified when someone adds you, but not where you can be notified when someone takes you off their list...

on further inspection, it only mentions getting notification when someone adds you as a friend. I haven't been removed from anyone's friends since they implemented it, so I don't know if it works when someone removes you from their list.

I also use the client, Semagic. However, it doesn't work automatically. Once you install it, you need to populate it from the LJ server. After that, you will need to manually update to see who has added or removed you.

From someone else's comment, I gather it's only down temporarily.

It would have been one of the first things I installed anyway! I use Semagic, too, and would miss it a lot if I had to go without. And apparently it has a number of functions I haven't been using.

[livejournal.com profile] marnanel (same person as marnanel.org) is on my friends list, and he says that the site is down due to hardware issues that are being addressed. So it will hopefully be back up soon.

Actually, I think you may find [livejournal.com profile] marnanel and his wife [livejournal.com profile] firinel worth reading. Check out their journals sometime.
