New city council
Nov. 14th, 2006 02:15 pmUnofficial results from the Guelph municipal election indicate a sweeping and satisfying change of city council. Former mayor Karen Farbridge shows a solid victory over incumbent Kate Quarrie. Bob Bell, my first choice for Ward 1 councillor, won by a landslide. Second place may be decided by a single vote. 35,205 of 88,538 eligible voters cast ballots, or 39.8 per cent, much higher than the usual 25 per cent.
