One night recently my head had barely hit the pillow when Marian and I went browsing through a gallery shop full of lovely blown-glass objects. She appeared to be about two feet tall and transparent, with a pyramidal hat of pale green glass. She was trying to pick out something as a gift for Brenna, but each time she touched one of the ornaments or boxes on sale it would shatter, and the noise would wake me. I dozed and woke several times in quick succession, but can't remember what happened after I finally settled in.
