Fingerless gloves
Jan. 20th, 2007 03:41 pmMy parents and daughters are in town for the concert tonight, so I had an opportunity to photograph these fingerless gloves I knit for Brenna for Christmas. I was inspired by
ghostsandrobots, who wore a pair of these (in dark grey, I think) to Toronto last fall. She kindly pointed me to the pattern from Crystal Palace yarns. I used another mohair-wool yarn from Wellington Fibres (I think this colour mix is called "Spring Break".

Date: 2007-01-21 05:06 am (UTC)I've just learned to knit. So far, I've made nothing but scarves, though I have started a shawl and a scarf that uses stitches significantly more difficult than plain old garter or stockinette. I *love* it. It's very calming. Though I've realized I'm a total snob about yarns. I won't touch acrylics, and I love wool and silk. Cotton isn't bad, but I can feel the moisture wicking out of my skin. When my daughter started therapy, and we learned about sensory issues, I realized I have them also. Noise makes me crazy (either a lot, or a sustained amount). And certain tactile things calm me down. Like knitting with yummy yarn.
Have you made socks? I love wool socks, and my sisters makes some adorable ones with beading and other things on the cuff. But I'm afraid to try.
