Thursday I depart on my first long trip (more than a weekend) to the United States since my honeymoon in 1990. This is a LiveJournal trip; mainly I will spend time with several friends. I also look forward to driving through Appalachia. Here is my itinerary.

Pittsburgh, the night of August 2 chez [livejournal.com profile] ghostsandrobots.

Atlanta, nights of August 3 through 7 chez [livejournal.com profile] dakoopst.

Knoxville, nights of August 8 and 9 chez [livejournal.com profile] ink_ling.

Pittsburgh, August 10 and 11 to visit [livejournal.com profile] ghostsandrobots and [livejournal.com profile] writer00. Then home on August 12.

If anyone else lives in or near those cities, or will happen to visit, and wants to meet, let me know.

Last week I had the jitters, but my nerves are settling down as departure approaches, because really there isn't much to do. It has required far less planning than the camping trip I did with my daughters two years ago.

Atlanta is a little hotter than Guelph these days, but not much.

I eagerly anticipate your arrival...my mind swirls with things we can do, and I force myself to calm and remind myself that your presence is joy enough. :)

Yes, your company will be the best part!

I am slowly pulling everything together here, and will leave Guelph about noon tomorrow.

On Friday I have an 11 hour drive, so expect me to arrive in Atlanta sometime between 8 and 10 p.m.

I am excited!

I am as well! Woohoo!

I'm going to drop by a friend's b-day party at 6, but I'll be home by 7-7:15, methinks. You have my number...

I had my own honeymoon in 1990, in early August. Visited Pittsburgh that year, too, for the first time. And now I'm living here, as of July 4th.

Speaking of visiting, I'm visiting your journal after chatting awhile yesterday with one of your Pittsburgh hosts. We talked about a very old pump organ that my late aunt used to play, and I see that you work on fancy organs, the ones with pipes. Interesting coincidence.

Anyway, maybe I'll see you around here on one your days in town. In the meantime, I'm adding you to my reading list.

Your trip sounds like great fun.

Ah, if only I could be in Atlanta when you will be. Perhaps next year a west coast trip can be arranged.

Godspeed on your travels - I can understand it being a bit intimidating, but I'm sure you'll have fun, what with such an excellent list of hosts.

Sorry we haven't been able to chat on the phone as of late - I just haven't stopped running around long enough to make it happen. When you're done with your trip I'll be done with the last of my business travel, and maybe that will be a good time to catch up and swap stories.

Don't worry, I've been busy, too. After I get back I'll be juggling work and extra time with my kids until Labour Day. But I do look forward to connecting with you and Sean.

while in Atlanta eat at The Flying Buscuit at 1655 McLendon Avenue Northeast and also Mary Mac's Tea Room which is on Ponce just up from the eagle. At Mary Mac's have the collard pot liquor.....YUM.
The Buscuit is great for brunch on the weekends

*giggle* Flying Biscuit is wonderful, indeed...I can't believe I've never been to Mary Mac's, but I haven't.

I've thought about hitting the Colonnade or, perhaps, Agnes and Muriel's...
