Enigmatic?

Brenna called this my "Mona Lisa" picture. The kid is just too clever.

Leonardo's lovely model didn't have such a frown. On the other hand she didn't have to deal with early evening sunlight. But this is the only self-portrait I took during our week at the cottage, so I'll post it.

If you want to see a more benign expression (not to mention better hair), check out [livejournal.com profile] ruralrob's photos of my visit to Nanookville.

Well I think this one's great, frown and all. . .

I've seen a mona lisa look on your face. Vague smile like you're thinking about something fun and tawdry that happened a long time ago.

Indeed! Perhaps it was something fun and tawdry that I wanted to be doing at that very moment.

It's time for you to teach Brenna about Vincent van Gogh…

Just to make a point:

Vinnie baby!

How's that?

I find redheads so intriguing…

Yes, it took me a couple minutes, but I understood the reference before you posted the painting. It gives me the willies. I have always found that self-portrait disturbing.

My hair has turned gradually from blond to brown over the past 15 years, but apparently the pattern of my body hair (a shield on my chest) indicates I am genetically a redhead.

As for Brenna, she already has a taste for the Impressionists, particularly van Gogh. When we walked through the door last night, she immediately noticed the new painting on a stand in the corner.

"Did you paint that?" she said.

"No, Sylvie did," I replied.

"It's good," the girls agreed.

I think this is my favorite picture of you so far. Nice detail of your beard. The water is a lovely shade of blue. A handsome if lightly troubled countenance.

So...um, yeah. Woof.

Really it was just bright sunlight on the water that gave me that frown; I was very content. All I needed was a another backwoods bear to maybe help entertain the girls but mostly keep me company when the lights went out. ;-)

Um, WOOF.

You're much more handsome than Mona Lisa with that smug little bitch smile.

What your girls don't know, is that Van Gogh actually painted you ; )

Haha, I don't look crabby or enigmatic now, just stoned.
