Homeless

The good news is, Mom's condition has stabilized. Taking her off morphine was the right thing to do. She is almost almost back to how she was when we visited at Christmas. I encouraged her to try massage therapy to relieve the lymphedema, so Saturday morning Dad took her to an appointment. Almost immediately we could see (and she could feel) an improvement in the swelling around her eye, so she is going to continue to go to appointments twice a week.

Just now I was posting some mail for Dad and noticed the CA office of Mary, a school friend. On the spur of the moment I went in, and we ended up talking for almost two hours. I came out to her, but she said she had known for a few years, couldn't remember how. I feel it is time to start reconnecting with friends from the distant past, and Mary was the ideal person to start with.

The bad news is, yesterday I called the guy who is restoring my apartment and he said, "I'll try to have it ready by the end of the week." So I am staying here for an extra day, until Tuesday, then I'll return to Guelph and stay with Sylvie and Sarah until the work is done.

I didn't expect it to take this long. I was looking forward to returning home to my haven tonight. The visit with Mom and Dad has been pleasant enough, but I need some down time in my own space. The bedroom and office are so barricaded with furniture I can't even get in to pick up things that I need. I feel uprooted, cast adrift.

Thanks for all the recent comments. At least I don't feel terribly alone.

There is no internet café within miles of my parents' place. This is The Country. A cute fellow in a Kingsville computer store is letting me use his wireless connection.

I'm so happy your Mom is doing better. I wish you apartment were fixed. Much love to you, whether you get this now, in the cute Kingsville haven, or later.

Glad to hear about your Mom, but sorry you can't move back into your "haven" until the end of the week. Be it ever so humble, and all of that. Hugs.
