Reflected light

Work is feast or famine; now everybody wants me. Judy and Brenda have a big basement renovation to do, so I will help them this afternoon and the rest of this week. Monday Les plans to start an organ renovation in Drayton, which will probably last several weeks, so he wants help on that.

Victoria Road Bridge has been under construction (adding two lanes) for more than a year, so I've avoided walking there, but the work is now complete. This morning I headed in that direction and found that the city has extended the bicycle path, encouraging people to cross toward the country trail I call Lilac Way. I haven't taken it yet this year, and didn't have time this morning, but will do so soon. Maybe this weekend when Danny will be here.

I've been obsessed with trying to capture the play of sunlight reflected off water, but it doesn't convey well in still images. Today the shimmering effect on the underside of the bridge was so brilliant, the photograph is unambiguous. Now I can die in peace. Besides the light, there were cicadas.

This morning the air is so young and soft, it's like the first day of summer, or swimming in a clear lake, as sweet as the gesture of firelight on Steve's skin one August night two years ago.
