Finger love
Jan. 10th, 2009 09:21 amAbout a week ago I lost the scroll function on the TouchPad of this Toshiba Satellite notebook, which meant I had to point to the side of every window and use the scroll bar. My index finger was not happy. Then I remembered downloading an optional update for the TouchPad driver that must have messed it up, along with the usual Windows updates. I was not enough of a techie to know what to do.
A Google search led me to FixYa.com, which looked helpful, so I posted an inquiry. Soon I received an email suggesting I pay for their Premium Assitance Plan to have my problem addressed by their team of Elite Experts. So much for that.
I tried ignoring the problem.
This morning my index finger said, "I hate you."
So I went into Windows Update, where I found an update history and "Troubleshoot problems" link. From there it took just a few clicks to find the TouchPad driver, and the "Roll Back Driver" Button. Reboot, and now it works.
"How persistent and resourceful!" says my index finger. "I love you."

And that's nice, walking through 'real' life and being reminded of cyber friends and acquaintances, who are ~ after all ~ just as real.
