When I walked into the ICU at noon today, Dad was sitting up in a chair waiting for his lunch. He was energetic and chipper, and had already asked the surgeon whether he can go home on Friday. The answer was maybe.

After waiting all afternoon for a bed in a ward, he finally transferred out of ICU around 6 p.m. I stayed long enough to help him resettle, then had to return to Guelph. I have to work tomorrow and Friday.

How reassuring that must have been for you to see him sitting up and asking the doc to go home!!

Hope all the recovery goes smoothly and rapidly.

I'd think that his being energetic and chipper and asking about when he can go home is a great sign. A good situation for you to leave in.
