Thanks to everyone who commented last week.
Surgery did occur on Wednesday night. The surgeon reopened the top of Dad's sternum and irrigated with saline. The registered nurse, who on Friday still did not know what had happened, finally provided Dad with a report on Saturday morning.
He has been making steady progress since the last update.
I have been home since Thursday. One highlight of the weekend with Danny deserves a separate post.
After a couple days off, it is hard to get back on the horse.
Dad expects to be released Thursday morning. I will return to London to take him home, and stay with him until early next week. A homecare nurse will come in every day for a few weeks to administer an intravenous antibiotic.
Another story puts things in perspective. Sarah (my writing partner) and Michele's friend Luana was mugged and beaten on a Barbados beach last week. Luana regained consciousness, but her mother-in-law Terry remains in an induced coma. Spare some thoughts for them.
