My daughters returned to Lindsay on Friday. I am happily home from nine days away, ending with another night of hospitality in the home of [livejournal.com profile] djjo, [livejournal.com profile] bitterlawngnome and [livejournal.com profile] danthered, for which I am deeply grateful. Last evening I enjoyed one of their communal dinners along with five other guests, and met two new LJ friends. Here's welcoming [livejournal.com profile] token_otter and [livejournal.com profile] raccoon_it to my somewhat furry menagerie.

Recently my junk mail reception has soared to more than 60 pieces per day. I must find a solution to this problem. Today I'm afraid to open my mailbox. Sifting through it is, however, one of the first tasks at hand, along with unpacking, and cleaning the mess the girls left behind.

Before I get to work, here are a few highlights of this past, eventful week.

What wedding vows would you make if you could finally, legally marry the person you had loved and built a home with for 30 years? On August 2, Brenda struggled through tears and laughter to verbalize her commitment to Judy, with encouragement from her cousin, Tim, Rev. Canon Lucy Reid, and Judy's sister, Joan.

I remembered stopping by a waterfall along a sideroad not far from the cottage many years ago, but had never gone back. On Wednesay my daughters and I went looking, found it and explored in the rain. It was so beautiful we went back on Friday for a last picnic lunch before the girls went home. Marian at Hollow River:

Being a father is one of the best things about my life, but after several weeks of doing it single-handedly I am always ready for some adult company. On Friday, after dropping the girls off, I went camping for the weekend with [livejournal.com profile] djjo. He was the perfect person to relax and readjust with. Thank you, Danny. Hiking at Turkey Point Provincial Park:

More stories and photos to follow. Thanks again to [livejournal.com profile] ruralrob for the memory! I shot more than 260 pictures this week and practically filled all three cards. And thanks again to [livejournal.com profile] wonderboymi for hosting my images.

Wow - I hope I look that good in a tux!

Then again, lesbians always look good in tuxes!

Van - public thanks for a great weekend. I really needed to get out of Toronto and spend a couple days in the country. The hike was one of the many high points of the trip. I really like how the pic turned out!

The waterfall looks like an amazing place. Thanks for posting that pic of it and your daughter.

Big hugs - Danny

That photo was a great idea of yours!

There is more I want to say about what a nice weekend I had with you! Tonight I'm dropping-down tired, so it will have to wait.

Big hugs for now.
