First rehearsal
Jan. 28th, 2010 06:35 pmLast night, first rehearsal after the concert, the Rainbow Chorus spent the entire two hours rehearsing the new piece, "Starlight"! Many people told me it was a beautiful song. Several told me they cried the first time they read the words.
One woman (one of those rare solidly-happy people whose temperament is always inspiring, never annoying) said the part about two pinpoints of fire described how she felt the first time she connected emotionally with another woman. It is wonderful to see good people relating that way with a deeply personal expression of my own.
Like the time I gave a public reading of "Bathhouse lovers", and a straight man came up to me afterward and said, "I've felt that."
That is why I love to write, and it makes all the effort—endlessly begging the universe for a scrap of coherent meaning—worthwhile.
