Since last year I have become friends with someone at Out On The Shelf. This evening she dropped by during my shift and revealed she has been reading Eramosa River Journal since before she knew me or came to OOTS. She appeared embarrassed about it. It's not the sort of thing a diffident person says comfortably: "Hello, I know you much better than you think, much better than you know me." She brought it up because we have some common ground, a Big Deal I've been through, which she is now going through, so could we meet for coffee?

Once again, this is why I write. This is why I keep this journal public (and here I write a few things I seldom speak about). I believe in casting my bread upon the waters. I hope my stories will benefit someone.

I don't expect it to come back to me quite this way, but it's beautiful when it does.

i write here for many of the same reasons.

it's great when something unexpected comes of your writing, isn't it?

Yes,it's very nice when one's work can have meaning like that.
