I made an appointment with a mortgage broker for next week. At current rates, and for the payments I can afford, I should be able to pay off the debt in about 11 years. Last night I was exhilerated. The concern is, of course, whether I can continue to afford those payments without any job security or significant prospects beyond next winter. And rates seem poised to rise soon. My emotions change drastically from one day to the next.

maybe take a partial refinance and a partial loan from your dad like he offered to get the payments down to a very manageable level. and don't forget your idea to rent the cottage i think that is a good one as long as you have a place to stay.

you know i'd love to see a photo of the cottage. :)

you're doing all the right stuff
change is scary.

hang tough!

There are a few interior shots near the beginning of this Flickr gallery:
Cottage 2006.

But really this view of our dock on a July afternoon says more about the place where my soul is home and at peace. I will not part with it.

The icon was taken from the canoe a short distance from our dock on an October morning.

And a view of the cottage from the lake. Dad replaced this old dock with a new, larger floating one a couple summers ago.
