Niagara-on-the-Lake
Apr. 14th, 2010 07:27 amWe are taking a couple weeks off from the Vancouver project to do some work for St. Mark's Anglican Church in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The organ console is being placed on a dolly for mobility so the entire organ needs to be rewired (it is electropneumatic). It's a refreshing change to get out of the shop and work on site.
Niagara-on-the-Lake is almost two hours from home, so we are staying here a few nights to get the work done. It is an historic town, one of the prettiest around. St. Mark's is the oldest Anglican Church in Ontario (1791) and the building was constructed in about 1805. We are staying in the manse, a spacious house built around 1850. Reverend Bob is an entertaining host, skilled at conversation. He took us out to dinner last night at The Angel, a traditional pub. Food was accompanied by a couple pints (cider for me). Back at the manse he served Scotch. Surprisingly, I am not hungover this morning.
