I've moved onto a new task at work. Once again I've been moving lumber around the shop all day every day since Friday: first a rough cut to length with the skill saw, then once or twice over the jointer to make one smooth surface, then multiple passes through the thickness planer, then another pass over the jointer to cut one clean edge, and finally the table saw cuts it to thickness. I process large volumes one step at a time. These boards are for the back and top of the organ case. They will fit together with a half lap joint, and the width is not important, so there's no precision involved in this step, just lots of boards, tonnes of lumber, back and forth, on my feet, enough to work up a slight sweat all day.
At times like this I lose 10 pounds in a week without thinking about it. I don't want to think about exercise. I'm getting enough.
At other times I need to exercise regularly so I stay in shape for this. I need to concentrate on crunches to develop my abs to support my back. This afternoon I felt one short, sharp twinge of nerves in my lower back, that was all. I'm surprised it has been holding up so well.
The rhythm should settle down to something lighter in another day or two. That will be a better time to consider my exercise goals.
