Happy tomatoes
May. 17th, 2010 06:41 pmPopped into my garden for a last look before the trip. The tomatoes planted last week have settled in nicely. The heirloom variety I couldn't remember is Old Brook. The basil planted a few days earlier does not look happy; it must have taken a little frost burn.
But the basil in Toronto is doing well. I checked there yesterday afternoon, hacked weeds, elderberry shoots and so on. Unfortunately I also hacked one cucumber plant, but the others are flourishing. The snow peas have germinated nicely. I had hoped to plant some tomatoes there, too, but didn't have time or opportunity. The day after we get back, May 30, I'll try to pick some up from Kensington Market.
No more time to write. I have to pack, shop and do a dozen things this evening. Tomorrow night after writers' circle I'm off to Toronto, and Wednesday morning early
djjo and I will be on the road.
