This afternoon on Jomarco.com I broke my previous Scrabble record, set in 2005, for a high word score. Today's word was QUINIELA, for a basic score of 17 points, hitting two triple word scores and earning a 50 point bonus for using all the tiles, for a total of 212. I've played over 1,500 games on the site since 2003.

I'm unfamiliar with quiniela, but I see that Merriam-Webster online admits it. Thrusted, however, I would reject out of hand.

In these games the computer automatically checks words against the dictionary used in North American tournaments, so it must be acceptable.

Oh, and my dream (not that I ever play Scrabble these days) is to make quixotic in that position -- or rather in the other half of the row so that the X is on the double-letter square: 356.

I had the right setup to play QUIXOTIC, but on the wrong side. In fact, I already had the Q and U on the rack when I played NAZI, and was hoping against hope my opponent wouldn't use the spot, but I didn't expect it to work out so well.
