Pacing

After work yesterday I started making the warp for my next weaving project (the warp is the set of threads that pass from back to front of the loom). The warp threads will be random, so I have to tie in a different yarn every few yards. It is painstakingly fun. I worked for an hour and finished less than a quarter of the warp.

6 Changes is about habit, not obsession. It's important to pace myself. I do not plan to work on the warp this evening, because housework needs doing. Danny is coming for the weekend, but has to work from his laptop. In my spare time on Saturday and Sunday, I'll try to finish making the warp.

I need to fabricate two tools for the loom: a pair of lease sticks and a raddle. A raddle is like a big comb, useful for spreading the threads of the warp. I might manage without one, but lease sticks are important for transferring the warp onto the loom. I just need to find two long, thin pieces of scrap lumber at the shop and drill a hole in each end. I could do that today.

Later last evening I met my writing partner. We hadn't got together since before my trip to Winnipeg, so we had a lot of catching up to do. We didn't get any writing done.
