Tornadoes and other storms
Apr. 28th, 2011 09:52 pmYesterday afternoon while we were working at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on top of the big hill in Fergus, a blast of wind and rain hit. The whole building shuddered. I went into the vestibule and found a stained glass window with some panes clear enough to see outside. It was a deluge. On the way home I passed some traffic lights out of alignment at the south end of town. This morning CBC News from Toronto stated a suspected tornado had touched down near Fergus. Turns out it happened where the traffic lights were twisted, about 2 km from where we had been working. It also bent some signs and tore some metal off the Canadian Tire building. Fergus got off light.
This week I have been in a funk, probably because of the persistently unstable barometer, one storm front after another. Figuring out how much income tax I owed also had something to do with it.
This evening, despite feeling listless and gloomy I managed to do quite a lot of housework: washed a load of laundry, washed the dishes, made a pot of simple turkey curry, finished filing and putting away papers left over from taxes, and folded and put away the laundry. Doing housework didn't make me feel better, but it's nice to have the place so organized that even a sad, tired person does not feel overwhelmed, and can put things in order. It will be nice to begin the weekend with so many uncluttered rooms.
