Coinciding with the previous post, the landlord sent an email to say, "We would be happy to have you and Danny as our tenants." So we're almost there. For local friends, it's on Edinburgh Road a couple blocks south of Kortwright Road. It's a link home, joined to the neighbours at the garages, with a sunny, non-descript backyard and functional patio. Some amenities include dishwasher, gas stove, central air, laundry facilities, whirlpool bath and gas fireplace in the basement. We'll probably use the big, finished basement room for our bedroom, and master bedroom upstairs for a craft room. It's nice. What a relief!

It was such a relief when you called and gave me the news. Now some more concrete plans can be made. Looking forward to spending our 9th anniversary together in a place we share.

I'm happy for you and [livejournal.com profile] dijo. :-)

Will you be able to grow anything in the garden? Perhaps some chives and lettuce for summer?

The small front lawn and driveway face southwest and a busy street. The back yard is a bit odd: long and narrow, sloping sharply upward at the back, with no shade trees, but the patio has shade from the house. That back slope would be terrific for a rock garden, but there's no point as we only expect to stay there a year (beginning July 1). So I won't be planting any tomatoes or a significant herb garden. Lettuce and chives would be just the thing, though. I already have little pots of chives, rosemary and mint growing in my bathroom window.

Very glad to hear this! A very different neighbourhood than downtown, but you'll be walking distance to some lovely creeks.
