Tour guide

I have volunteered to be a guide for Speed River walking tours under the auspices of Ontario Public Interest Research Group (OPIRG). Three Sunday afternoons this summer I get to take people for a 90-minute walk and describe the ecology, history and watershed flora of the river I love. This afternoon I went to the OPIRG office to meet the coordinator and pick up the lengthy script. I will have to prime my mind with a whack load of information, however improvisation is encouraged. This will challenge and stretch me in all the best ways. I'll post more details in Speed River Journal once OPIRG publishes online information about the tours.

Sounds excellent! In my experience, priming the mind for something like that isn't too hard, both because you're already interested, and because the information will all fit together with the setting and how you present it.

This is as good a spot as any for me to say goodbye to you in this venue ... I'll be leaving LJ soon, but not suddenly or mysteriously. Good to have read you hear, and good to have met you ... I wish you and djjo all the best in your new place, for the record, though I'm sure I'll still see you about and you can recruit me for the move, as well. TTFN!
