Speed River
Aug. 25th, 2003 08:46 amThe Speed is the larger of Guelph's two rivers. Here are two views from a short trestle bridge we crossed on our way downtown yesterday afternoon. While the Eramosa drifts through wooded parks, the Speed coils around the city centre.

The band was formed in Toronto. Jeff Bird is from Guelph.
I am hopelessly ignorant (but not unappreciative) of anything unclassical. I had to Google to find that information.
The Speed River is much lovelier along other stretches. The song most likely refers to this park, which competes with any urban green space I have ever visited for sheer elegance. Maybe there are places this beautiful along the Seine or the Danube.
I have been trying to take pictures of this to post, but my friggin' camera doesn't do justice to the way the light falls on this water. This space is a 25 minute walk from my place, so I don't visit it as often as the Eramosa, where the park is less manicured and has more fodder for my interests as a naturalist.
